e-Bike Safety & Riding Skills Training

Most e-Bike 101 classes teach basics about owning and operating an e-Bike, with a few tips on safety.

The best way for kids, new riders & seniors to learn and remember e-Bike safety tactics is by using those skills in practice after learning the basic tools in a classroom type setting.  This ensures that participants have the knowledge, experience and confidence to ride an e-Bike safely on bike paths and roads in their neighborhood and higher traffic areas.

eSA’s e-Bike Safety Training Course takes that 101 knowledge and applies it to real world situations where you have to think quickly.   We focus on best practices for safe and considerate e-Biking when sharing a multi-use path with many others.  This follows the established “cycling etiquette” and standards that most Colorado cyclists and e-Bikers should follow.

Our course provides an organized approach to teaching the basic riding skills and safety training/etiquette regarding using an e-Bike on shared multi-use paths.

Participants will receive:

  • Certificate of completion (digital and sticker)

  • e-Bike registered with local police in case it gets stolen

  • Free bell installed

Kids 15 and under (without driver’s permits) riding an e-Bike going 20+ MPH without a helmet has the potential for injury to themselves and others.  As a community, we need to provide the boundaries and direction to help kids help themselves while sharing public pathways.

This program teaches kids the Safety Riding Skills necessary to be an aware rider on Multi-use Paths.  And establishes a registration program to start monitoring how many e-Bikes are registered in each area. Eventually, kids will be able to teach their peers as well as seniors to be smarter and more considerate about using their e-Bikes on shared paths.

Public school parking lots can provide safe training areas away from cars to teach the safety riding skills necessary to help kids & seniors responsibly ride an e-Bike on our public, shared paths.  This has the potential to create an intergenerational model for your community where kids train seniors who pay for the course directly to the school:

▪ Kids will encourage their friends to join and model safe riding behavior with other kids.

▪ Program can generate revenues to offset most costs

Free bells installed on every e-Bike

▪ Teach kids basic business and presentation skills to kids; great learning/teaching/entrepreneurial experience in prep for college

▪ Kids Actively teaching seniors that desire learning from younger generation

Once participants learn safe and proper e-Bike riding skills, they can share that knowledge with friends and family on joint rides together.  Let’s work together to reduce crashes and near misses on bike paths before they happen.
